About Me

This is my seventh year teaching full-time at Sonoran Science Academy, and my third year at the middle/high school.  I will be teaching 7th grade life science and high school human anatomy and physiology.

Before coming to Sonoran Science Academy, I spent numerous years home schooling my own children, and was involved in a number of community organizations focusing on education and home schooling.  As my own children entered public school, my interest in education became more focused the public arena.  I spent a year working as a substitute teacher before making the move back to full-time teaching.

My background is in science.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Resources Planning with a minor in zoology.  I also hold a Master’s of  Business Administration and a Master's of Education.  Before teaching, I spent numerous years working for the National Park Service as well as state parks.  My most recent position with the National Park Service was at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in southwestern Arizona.

I bring my passion for science to teaching, and try to incorporate a hands-on exploratory program for my students.  I also hope we will be able to take some science related field trips this year.  We have a full curriculum and schedule, and I am looking forward to an interesting and exciting year of learning.
